What are some options that seat 6 or more and aren't minivans? That work with carseats. That either have good gas mileage or some awesomeness that makes up for having crappy gas mileage?

We've managed as a 1-car household for awhile now, but soon - with the advent of a far-away job - we may need a second vehicle. What do you recommend?

Best Toy Train Sets?

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best reasonably priced toy train sets for a 2 yr. old? I like the colors of the Chuggington sets, and the motion of the Geo Trax sets, and the old fashioned wooden look with updated lights and sounds in the Immaginarium set. So, I'm torn on which way to go. I can't figure out which will fit together. Most importantly, I DON'T like the Thomas ...

We've been buying organic milk ever since our children were born. This evening, we spilled two pretty full children's cups, which I would guess was nearly 8oz of milk.

For our two kids, we're drinking about a gallon a week. A gallon is 128oz, so in one night we spilled 6.25% of our weekly milk, and I'm sure we spill more than a couple cups for each gallon.

How about ...

While kids love to read picture books, we want to start having more of a choice for longer read-out-loud stories, with lots of stories/chapters in one book. The two books we currently have are Winnie-the-Pooh and Eloise.

Especially with the holidays coming up, we're looking for book recommendations...

Some books we think might work:

Pippi Longstocking (and some of the other Astrid Lindgren books)

Wind in the Willows

What else??

We didn't seriously explore this for our first child and my OB/GYN highly recommends. She pointed out that it would be beneficial for our first child as well. It seems difficult to weigh if this is worth the cost when the research is still really in the early stages. I'd be interested to know what other parents decided and ...
