At what age should you teach boys to pee standing up?
I hear that most boys start to pee sitting down because it's easier... they have bad aim.. and usually they are learning from watching mommy do it.
My son is 3, completely potty trained, and still pees sitting down. It's kind of a problem because he has to push his penis down to pee into the toilet but he frequently ends up getting pee under the toilet seat.
So, when did you get your boy to pee standing? Any tips on how to do it?

Of my three kiddos I only have one boy, but I have a bunch of little brothers and nephews and I think all of them realy started out sitting down first. And they are really bad aim at first whether standing or sitting. The little kid seats that attach to a big toilet come with a 'boy gaurd' and that's real useful at first.
But you eventually have to train them to hold their penis down the same as you have to train them to hold and point their penis when they are standing. The mantra is where their eyes go when standing so will the pee! They have to be watching the toilet or if they look away so will the stream!
My little guy is just now 6 and he sits about half the time and stands half the time, hope that helps??

My oldest son didn't start peeing standing up until he was about 4.5. My middle son, newly potty trained, watched the older one do it and started doing it when he was just under 3. They like peeing together and with their dad. Now that the weather is getting warm, you could have him pee in your yard standing up.
My middle son is very tall for his age so make sure your son can actually pee over the side of the bowl before you start encouraging it too much.

Our son is 3, and I've tried having him pee standing up at home once or twice, but I'd say that this wasn't really "success".
On the other hand, we just had him out & about this weekend, and were at a really nasty bathroom that thankfully had a urinal. It was too high for him, so I lifted him up (by the arms), and he used it like a champ.
We've also had somewhat of a habit of peeing outside in a bush (standing up, of course) if we're somewhere that doesn't have a suitable or clean restroom. We had a lot of success with this when he first started potty training, and it's sort of a good feeling to know that we don't actually need a full restroom for him to take care of things.

pee in the bushes?! :) hehe.
