Healthy snacks?
My questions seem to all be about food lately. Hmmm...
At any rate, I am trying to find some new options for healthy snacks rather than serving the same stuff all the time. Our 14-mo-old routinely has applesauce, puffs, and loves most kinds of bread (with or without cheese). He's not much a fan of pieces of fruit (I keep trying, and he'll only sometimes eat it if I dice it really fine and add yogurt). He'll eat carrots, but I try to include that in his lunch, and other veggies are hit or miss. I don't really want to give him too much packaged fooda (like goldfish crackers or other crackers which my other friends provide)....
So what else are other people serving as snacks to their little ones?

+1 to Raisins. They're a huge hit with both our kids. We always get the multi-colored ones from the farmers market, and I'm fairly certain there's no added sweeteners in there.
Keep trying on fruit. Our kids seem to go through phases liking different things over time. Peach/Plums were a huge hit last year, and those are just coming into season now, so try those when they come.
You could try some plain rice or corn cakes as well, but maybe this is just the same as bread. :)
For veggies, I've found that our kids seem to like them cooked a fair bit more than we do. We generally steam them in the microwave, but do it for a minute or two longer than we usually do, and the kids will enjoy it more.
With our first, we always kept a bag of frozen peas, corn, and soybeans in the freezer. You can pull these out, put them in a glass bowl with a little water, and microwave them to defrost in just a few seconds. Rinse with cold water and drain, and they're ready to go!
Have you tried Snappea Crisps? Those are a big hit as well, but are more of a treat, since they seem a bit salty to me.

How about raisins, peeled and sliced grapes, and cheese sticks?

I'll keep trying on the fruit, but so far, only pureed fruits seems to make it in reliably.... Re raisins, aren't they a choking hazard for kids this age? That's why I've stayed away from them. Our son just swallows stuff whole -- like corn kernals (they come out the other end intact!).
