3 Year Old Doesn't Want to be Wrong

0 votes

Whenever my 3-year old son is wrong about something, he says "that's what I meant" or "that's what I said."  Like:

Him: John's birthday party is this Saturday.

Me: His party is this Sunday.

Him: That's what I said, his birthday party is this Sunday.

Is this a bad thing?  Does it mean he is going to be afraid to make mistakes later?  Or is it just a phase?

Could your son be saying those things because he heard someone else say it? I'm just wondering if he thinks that's a normal response to being wrong as opposed to not wanting to be wrong.
