I got an "Evenflo Top of Stair Wood Gate" from Babies R US. It took about 45 minutes to install. It seems sturdy. The install was a bit of a problem because of the molding getting in the way of the brackets. Be sure to check the clearance before you start drilling.

We also like the pressure-mount ones. We have one like this at the bottom of our stairs, and got exactly this one for our kitchen...

It's nice that it is bamboo and mostly recycled plastic. For the one on the stairs that gets removed and put back twenty times a day, we made a fix with tape, so that once you've set the right distance for it, it won't slip off every time into two parts. The bamboo one is better and doesn't have this issue.
Yes, this gate is completely pressure-mounted. It has little rubbery feet that keep it squeezed between whatever two things it is squeezed between. Sorry for the delay in noticing your comment.

Katja - Is this gate truly pressure-mounted or is there some drilling involved? We rent our house and are trying to do as little drilling as possible which is proving to be difficult in the safety gate department. Some of them claim pressure mount and then have one or two brackets which need to be screwed in. :-(
