People who don't get having a toddler
We just got back from dinner at the house of friends who have a 4 year old. We have a 1.5 year old and a 4 year old. They just wanted to sit and chat and were resentful of the fact that I had to follow the little one around the whole time and keep him from getting into trouble. They even made a couple of comments about how he doesn't listen very well and what a handful he is. He's a toddler, of course he is a handful and doesn't listen very well. Thing is, he's actually fairly easy.
I was really surprised by their attitude. I thought since their kid wasn't much older they wouldn't yet have forgotten what toddlers are like.
How long do you think it takes people to forget how much work a 1.5 year old is?

There are also "easy" 1.5 year olds (mine weren't).

I think parents forget in about six months!

Looks like the link I tried to add got dumped. There was a great column in the Washington Post about this. I've been trying to add the link here and it keeps getting deleted. :-( If I find a way to attach it, I will. Otherwise, go to the Washington Post's page and find the columnist Carolyn Hax. You can also find her in a Google search and then click the top result to get to her columns.
Testing, I think this is the article you mean:
