Are dog-aggressive dogs safe around kids?
My sister's dog is dog-aggressive. He has attacked 3 other dogs, injuring 1 badly and killing 1. I've told my sister that he can't be around my kids. She says that he's only that way around dogs, not people. So far, that has been true, he's a very sweet dog with me. But I still don't want him around my kids. Are dog-aggressive dogs any more dangerous around kids? (Any actual data to back this up would be helpful.)

I don't have actual data to provide, but I am a dog owner. Happens to be that our dog is not dog-aggressive. Having said that, even as a fellow dog owner, if our dog was dog-aggressive, I would not let it be around kids. It's just not worth the risk, for either my own child or others.
My two cents.

I'm an owner of a dog-aggressive dog and she is fine with my own kids. I'm extremely careful with her around other children, however. We introduce her to other children very carefully with lots of parental supervision. Our children know to put the dog away before opening the door for any of their friends, just to be on safe side. I don't think our dog would ever hurt a child, but I sure would rather be safe than sorry.
