Have you ever put your kid's picture in a magazine?

Every once in a while, a magazine we subscribe to advertises a contest requesting cute kid pictures.  Now, I think (as all parents must), that I have a pretty cute kid.  I can look through our picture collection and find a dozen plus snapshots that fit the bill for the particular contest.  Question is - should I submit them?  How much do you have to give away (aka privacy) to enter the contest?  Which ones are really worthwhile?

Has anyone out there ever put their kid into magazines or signed up with a "talent agency"?  What was the experience like?

We never signed up with a talent agency, but our family photographer was selected to have some of her photos in a local lifestyle magazine called Eucalyptus.  They selected a photo of our daughter (bare bottomed, laying on the bed) as a lead-in to a story on eco-friendly children.  We agreed to sign the release form and let them use the photo.  We didn't think much of it because the magazine is local, and has fairly low circulation.

It seems to me that signing up with a talent agency might be fun for a little while, but if your son or daughter gets popular, I can imagine that it might be quite a chore to lug them around to photo shoots all the time.  Additionally, it seems as though this is the first step to "child actor" which for us isn't something that we really want to be doing.

I'd say that if you have a direct connection, and an opportunity to have your child featured in a photo shoot, then go for it, but I personally wouldn't seek that out.
