Games/Things for young siblings to play together?

Our son is 3 and a half, our daughter is 10 months old. (She can crawl really well, can cruise and has started standing as well.) She is interested in him, but he is not interested in her for more than a couple of minutes.

Here are some things we have tried with not tremendous success. One of them loses interest quickly.

Peekaboo, Sing songs with hand motions, Dance, Play chase where I'm holding the baby, Simon Says where when I'm simon I include things that she can do (arms in the air) or involve her (say Hi to her), Follow the leader (somewhere between chase & simon says), He builds it - she knocks it down.

Can kids this young play together? If so, what?

Is it possible your son would be more interested in general helping with the baby, rather than playing? Can you interest him in helping feed her a bottle, or showing her his favorite book? That might stimulate more interest in other types of play, such as peekaboo.

    Hi.

Yes, in the beginning, he was more interested in helping feed her, but that was only the first few times. Now he says "No thank you". He does enjoy reading to her, but she won't sit still for it, or will try to grab the book from him.

    Thanks for the ideas.

I wonder if you can say things like, "Oh, she really needs her blanket. I wonder who can get the blanket for me?" And then if he does get the blanket, give him some reward as a thank you. And then play peekaboo with the blanket!

Have you tried asking him what games he wants to play, and then see if there's a way you can work in the baby?
