parent-teacher conferences: what to ask?
We just had back-to-back parent teacher conferences for both our kids. Both went well, kids doing fine. But in both, there was this uncomfortable period where the teachers invited us to do the talking, ask questions, and we really didn't have much to ask. What do you ask at these things?

Kids don't always act the same around their parents than they do others (curiously, our child generally is better behaved when not around my wife and I) so I'll ask about that. I also ask questions about how he tends to interact with other kids; does he hang around the same boys and girls or everybody?
i'll also ask about his interests. During free play, what does he tend to do? What subjects does he like? What does he dislike? You figure that you'll already know the answers to these questions, but sometimes different surroundings changes the equation.
Most of the time I'll put some thought into one or two questions before the meeting, because it's tough to think of something when they put you on the spot.
