What are the most important / best things you've learned from your child?

There's no question that having a child changes your life. We focus so much on what we can teach them, what kinds of things do you find them teaching you? Are they the things you expected?

I've learned that every day, in fact every morning/afternoon/hour, is a new chance to have a great day, no matter what the previous day (or fifteen minutes of screaming and crying) was like.  It's never the same ol' same ol' with kids and as a parent, it's great fun to adopt their joie de vivre and continually fresh excitement!

My children also have taught me that blueberries taste best when stuffed into jet-puffed marshmallows and that the easiest way to make a filled cake is to poke holes into the cake with your fingers, fill the holes with frosting and then go over the cake a second time with a few more layers of frosting.

    Nice!

I think the thing that gets me over and over again with my 2 and 3 year old is that time, specifically feeling late or rushed, is a mental and societal construct. My children never feel late, they are exactly where they should be, always. I'm learning that where I am is as important as where I'm going.

(Thinking on this more, "time as construct" contrasts with another lesson my kids are teaching me! They grow and change seemingly every time I look up, and time has become to me both more precious and always fleeting. For example, I've become more conscious of how well I/we spend time and make time, even more than money.)

Also, that most food tastes better with fingers.
