Ear infection symptoms for a 10mo old?
Does anyone have a list of symptoms for a possible ear infection in a 10mo old? I'm looking for something specific to this age group, and with specific "here's how to tell" diagnosis.

I'm sure someone can post a more official list link, but I have been right on 100% with diagnosing my 3rd kid so here's how I tell:
Clue #1: timing -- did they have a cold a few days ago? Thought they were better but now they're upset?
Clue #2: sleeping -- waking up screaming bloody murder (if they don't usually do that) -- ear infections hurt most when lying down
Ear pulling and fever are also common signs. But if your kid had a recent cold and now they are crying and you just have a gut feeling that it's not a normal cry, trust your gut.

Apparently ear pulling may or may not correlate with infection. Anyway, we suspected our little one might have had one, and ended up buying a device that does a sonar scan to detect liquid in the ear.
She didn't have one. Some of the amazon reviews say that results may vary from kid to kid. It seems that for us it did work - she hasn't gotten worse, indeed has gotten better, so so far so good.
