Tips for helping kids with significant jetlag?

0 votes

We are about to embark on a trip where the time difference is 10 hours (They are ahead).

I know there is a related question already but I'm wondering if anyone has tried anything drastic, like any herbal remedies  (melatonin?) for themselves or their kids and if it worked. I even heard someone say feed them local honey but haven't been able to find a reference to that anywhere.

We just took our children overseas (8 hour time difference) and found that it was much easier dealing with jetlag on the way back than going out, although it took the same amount of time - 3 days - each time.  The first night is very difficult, but the children were so tired from the traveling (24 hr trips both ways) and the new environment/activities, that they would sleep very large periods at night.  So, to answer your question:  we just tried old-fashioned running them ragged!  Sorry, no helpful remedies other than literal physical exhaustion :-)

    Good luck!
