Nose picking

Any thoughts on teaching a child to not pick their nose? We've tried saying no, saying why not, reminding gently, reminding physically... it seems to be unconscious, so reminding and trying to provoke thought about it seem useless.
Anyone else dealt with this successfully?

Try this: Stock the house, car, etc. with tissues. Whenever your child goes to pick, hand him/her a tissue (or have the child get one). Don't call too much attention to it. This helps with my daughter, but we don't have it eradicated 100%. But tissues are far more likely to be used than they were in the past, so that's something. Good luck!
