Creative lunch ideas for toddlers?

0 votes

I'm short on time and originality for healthy, balanced lunches for my 20 month old daughter...right now it's either macaroni and cheese or eggs as a main dish, with some fruit and yogurt afterward. I'm sure she's getting bored and I'm not even sure how nutritious this is! Any ideas? I'm lacto-vegetarian but OK with giving her meat once in a while.

Actually, can you clairfy if you are wanting ideas for meals at home, packed lunches or both?

I'm not sure kids get bored the same way grownups do! I think we pretty much sent our kid out with some combination of cooked pasta shapes, green beans, broccoli, tofu, tomatoes, carrots, green peas, and sometimes a cheese sandwich, or yogurt. She didn't like her food items mixed until way after age 2, and quite flatly refused most all meat as well (hence the tofu). Sometimes we'd also send some berries or a bit of fruit, too.

Granted, our kid has genuinely loved her greens from very early on, but you might consider adding some vegetables to her diet as well, start introducing them little by little... Lots of these veggies are available as frozen, it's pretty convenient to sprinkle a few into the lunch pack as they will thaw by lunch time.
