What is a good bedtime lovey? baby 6 months old
Our son is 6 months old and we are now doing some bad habit adjustment (both mom and son) to get to a good night's sleep. He doesn't take pacifiers, but he had a tremendous need to suck. He likes to nurse to sleep and then be put on his side. But now we are thinking a lovey would be helpful as a comforter. What's a good lovey? Advantages between blankets and plush toys? (our older always loved pacifiers and never took to blankies or loveys so we're a bit inexperienced when it comes to selecting). One friend suggested some of the bigger plush toys by the makers of Beanie Babies - being replaceable if necessary, and washable. What do you recommend?

I have no ideas what "babies" in general, in abstract, prefer, but *I* have a sweet spot for custom minky blankets on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=minky%20baby%20blanket&order=most_relevant&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ&ref=auto6
and my kids seem to have ratified my choice. Replaceable, not especially; unique and special, well, I think so.

Our kids have blankies too. They like them but sometimes it's hard for me to watch them try to cuddle up with them on hot nights. The beanies they like are the Ty Pluffies line. Very cute, soft, a good size, and like you mentioned replaceable (at a very reasonable price) and machine washable.

My son really liked being swaddled, so when we slowly stopped the swaddling, his swaddle cloths became his blankies.

I ended up making blankies, minky and flannel were on sale and I made two while I was at it. Tho it looks like the baby is satisfied with any blanket to clutch. Baby also has a TY pluffie monkey he loves, but he prefers the blanket for bedtime.
