how to tip childcare providers for the holidays?

I'd like to give a cash gift to the staff at my son's daycare. My husband and I can't agree what is the right amount for a holiday bonus. The daycare is non-profit (run by YWCA) so I know that the staff isn't paid very much. I was thinking of giving full-time vs. part-time teachers different amounts. Does anyone have advice or experience with this?

I know that at our preschool, the maximum amount permitted is $50 per teacher, and that there's a fund collected that ensures that every teacher will receive $50 from the school's parent org.

Personally, we're tipping our nanny a week's salary, and giving $20 (in a charity donation) per teacher for the 3 teachers in our child's part-time preschool (plus a card made by our child), knowing that in this case they are paid on the higher end and that there is already a cash bonus coming... at least this is our guess of what to do!

We give $50/teacher to each of the 3 teachers in our sons' classes (in cash) which is the maximum allowed by policy. Last year we gave one teacher $100 because she was leaving. For our Kindergartener, we gave his teacher a $100 Target gift card (since I've seen her there before) and contributed $40 for the class gift (which was the maximum) and gave her some money for the classroom. We also give chocolates or cookies, write a note, and have the oldest write a note.
