What's the best way of detecting a UTI (urinary tract infection)?
Our 5 year old recently just had an extremely high fever spike with no symptoms. After a trip to the ER, they determined she had a urinary tract infection, but she had no burning, stomach pain, kidney pain, etc... Has anybody else had similar issues and is there another way to help detect this?

The most common presentation of a urinary tract infection in a young child is fever without any other symptoms, or fever and tummyache. Often a young child is unable to verbalize complaints of pain with urination. Sometimes a previously toilet-trained child will start having urinary accidents and that is your only clue. So they can be quite tricky!
