Good parent-baby classes for 1 year old?

I'd like to set aside a bit more time with our younger child, almost 1 year old now - she gets so much less 1 on 1 attention and interaction than our first did at her age. Just setting the goal has helped, but now I'm thinking of a class - 30 or 60 min a week - just me and her.

I went to the library this morning to sign my 2 1/2 year old up for storytime and asked about classes for the baby. I was told - not a big surprise! - that there's a gap in storytime for 1 year old walkers because they've "found that age hard to program for" ;) Thus, storytime ends with pre-walkers ("it's mostly for parents and the babies just oblige by attending") and starts up again with 18-mos-olds.

It makes me wonder if my plan is sound or quite possibly absurd. Are there good parent-child "classes" for the newly walking? Things like art, gym, stories? Or should I just follow her around for now and talk to her about what she's picking up and babbling about, and then wait for some greater attention span to settle in at 18 mos?

It just occurred to me that we might try parent-baby swimming - either on our own or in a class... that's something I've been wanting to do with her for months now but haven't found the time.

When my kids were little, I was lucky enough to find my local Parks and Recreation Dept. in town hosted a "Wiggles and Giggles" class. It consisted of a very brief circle, singing, ball rolling then open play. It was a great program not only for my child but also for me to connect with other parents of kiddos the same age. Many of the people I met are still my best pals 8 years later. Maybe your town or another near by offers something through the Parks and Rec. Dept.

Ha! I was about to ask the same question. But I think I've given up on classes for now and will just take our 1-year old on walks and to the park.
