Flu and H1N1 shots?

How long must one wait between the seasonal flu vaccine and H1N1 vaccine? This is for a child who has had 0 flu shots before, and will need two.

I got the answer from a nurse: you want to wait a month between any flu shots. If the child has never received any kind of flu shot, you need two, spaced one month apart, for the first one. So, for a first time baby, it takes a time span of 3 months to get the seasonal and H1N1 shots, which total three shots, no matter which way you do them. This is the advice I got.

Edit: The above is misinformed. You have to wait for a month for a booster shot for the seasonal, but the H1N1 shot can be received at any time. Restrictions apply if you get the live virus, as one of the answers noted.

I got a slightly different answer from our nurse. She said that it was fine to get two different killed virus shots, but not two weakened virus shots close together. So you could get the regular flu and H1N1 shots close together, but the nose spray versions should be spread out.

Same info here -- at the H1N1 vaccine clinic, they gave the shot to kids who had just gotten the seasonal flu shot or nasal spray, but you can't have the nasal spray within 28 days of having a different nasal spray. I'm not sure how young they give the nasal spray, however. I think it might be 2 years.
