Part Time Infant Daycare

0 votes

I'm going to be moving into Palo Alto the end of February and will be needing part time infant daycare (M,W,F) for my 4 month old daughter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't know if Menlo Park is too far for you.  Although I don't have personal experience with this place, I know it's highly regarded and I know directly of one mother who's son is there right now and loves it.  Teddy Bear's Loving Care is for newborns to 4 years old.

    Welcome to the Peninsula!

We've heard great things about the CPSC (Children's Preschool Center) on Middlefield Road in Palo Alto.  There are also a number of great in-home daycares in Mountain View that I'm aware of.  If you're interested, I'll look them up and post them here.

I really like our in-home daycare -- but I'm guessing that Los Altos/Cupertino is too far for you?

Also, another place to query for daycare recommendations and openings is PAMP (Palo Alto Menlo Park) Parents Group.  It's a bit pricey to join, but is a great (unparalleled) source for childcare recommendations (of all sorts).

Thanks everyone! Evelyn, Los Altos is not too far, so if you could pass along the name that would be great. Andrea, if you can think of any of the names of the in-home day cares I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Would rather not post the info online -- would you mind if I email you directly?  Are you ok if I ask the ParentsGuild admins to provide your email address (or mine to your)?

Not a problem, I'm ok if they give you mine.

Sure, will do.  We've had a request for a feature like this before - the ability to message someone privately - so we'll treat this as a "+1" on that idea ;)

Have you joined the PAMP club?   That's likely a good way to find recommendations of preschools and daycares in the area.  I find their digest e-mails a bit verbose, but I tihnk there's a lot of good information to be found there.

I also just learned that they're having a "Preschool fair"  Here's what it says on their website:

    When: Sat Feb 20, 2010 9am-1pm

Where: Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA

The PAMP annual Preschool Fair provides an opportunity for local parents in the community (members and non-members of PAMP) to "Shop" and educate themselves on the many choices of excellent Preschools in our area. Parents get to meet representatives from local Preschools and attend a Speaker Workshop on "How to Choose a Preschool".

The Fair allows parents to educate themselves on the various philosophies that are used in preschools (Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia/Play-based, Relationship-based (PITC), cooperative, faith based, etc) as well as an opportunity to find out information about specific schools in their neighborhood. In addition, this year we hope to have a section promoting language immersion preschools.

We expect to have in the range of 50 preschools attending. The cities of Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Los Altos will be well represented, as well as some representative schools from the surrounding cities.

We expect to draw over 200 attendees.

The fair is free for members, and is $5 for non-member families (or free if they join on the day).

We are quite happy with Children's Corner in Los Altos, close to the Palo Alto border.

They are very flexible with part-time schedules.
