Did you use tylenol for teething? If so, how often and did it work?
My baby is 3 months old. Teethers don't help- he can't seem to get the right spot in his mouth.

Yes, we used Tylenol for teething. Typically at night. I'd say over the course of teething we gave her tylenol maybe ten, twelve times. We got a dosage recommendation from our pediatrician (even the infant drops don't give you a guide how much to use, I think) and tried not to use tylenol as a first measure. But when night sleep was at stake, we were pretty ready to give it to her, and generally she would fall asleep in about 20-30 min - the time I presume it takes for the drug to ease the pain. Overall, our teething experiences were not very bad. I'd definitely ask your pediatrician if you have concerns.
Other things we gave her were ice cubes wrapped in a cloth and secured with a tight rubber band (we tried knots, too, but eventually switched to really tight rubber bands - making sure she could not pull them off, but still possible for us to undo). She had some other chewer things as well, but they were not remotely as good as the ice cube in a cloth. The cloth we used was a plain cloth diaper fabric, folded over several times - any nice texture I imagine is fine.

For our first, we never even knew he was teething until we saw teeth come out. It just never seemed to bother him.
With our 2nd, Tylenol didn't help. We gave her Ibuprofen at night right before bedtime during the bedtime routine. Usually give ~20 minutes for it to kick in. We didn't usually give it to her again in the middle of the night. During a bout of teething we might give it to her 2-3 nights in a row. This has happened maybe 5 times total. She's 2 now.
During the day, she liked to gnaw on cold (refrigerated) pieces of melon. I cut big long pieces for her to hold. She would just bite/chew and then spit it out. But since it could be chewed into small pieces, I think it made it possible for her to put it anywhere in her mouth that she needed it.

We give Tylenol when the baby is teething. Like Katja, we got a dosage recommendation from our pediatrician. We would give it at the start of the bedtime routine so that by the time we put him down, it seemed to have kicked in and he could go to sleep. I didn't like giving it more than once more at night, usually after about 6 hours.
During the day, we had lots of luck giving him a day-old bagel to gnaw on.

We gave it only at night, and only when we could tell that our baby was really in pain. Just make sure that it's really teething and not anything else. During the day, breastfeeding worked to soothe the pain temporarily. Those netted thingys that you can put frozen fruits or ice work for a little bit. Even though I was hesistant at first, the pacifier also helped; if you're concerned that your baby will get used to a pacifier (as I was), my baby grew out of using the pacifier after a few months. Frozen bagels and frozen wash cloths didn't work for my baby, but it may for your's. As my baby got older, teething biscuits and popcicles were a life saver.
