Policing food choices of others' kids
When my kids were younger, if they needed a snack when a friend was over, I put out food everyone could eat. I put out vegetarian food when there were kids from vegetarian families, kosher food when there were kids whose families kept kosher, I paid attention to food allergies, etc. How much do I have to pay attention now that my kids are older and they and their friends get their own snacks?
In particular, one kid, 8, comes over whose family is vegetarian. He doesn't want to be and I'm pretty sure he eats meat when he is over here. I don't go into the kitchen when he and my son are getting food. We have plenty of vegetarian food (I am vegetarian) but I don't feel okay about forcing it on anyone. Should I be watching what he eats?

It's very possible that the child is required to eat vegetarian when at home but can have meat when out. Growing up, I knew of several families who kept kosher only in the house and ate 'kosher-style' or didn't abide by the rules of kashrut at all outside the home.
Any chance you can casually ask the child what the family rules are?
