Is peanut butter really that dangerous?
I keep reading mixed recommendations on eating peanuts and peanut butter during pregnancy and nursing, which I wasn't paying much attention to because we don't have a family history of allergies. Since I don't eat meat that often, nuts are a good source of protein and got me through the morning sickness. However, now I'm freaking out a little because I have been eating it throughout.
Did anyone eat these foods during nursing and pregnancy, and did you find it caused problems later?

I don't remember being told to skip peanut butter when pregnant or nursing!! Not the best answer, I know.
But on the subject of peanut butter, I heard a good idea last week. A friend told me to take a spoonful of peanut butter to my daughter's 2 yr check up and have her eat it in the doctors office. I'm not a big worrier on the subject and it seemed a little like 'overkill', but then I thought how EASY this would be to do. And then I wouldn't have to think twice about peanut butter again!!
Hope this helped!

There is conficting advice out there. Some say that if there is family history it is best to avoid peanut while pregnant/nursing, while others say that exposing the fetus and/or baby to small amounts via in-vitro exposure or breastmilk actually may prevent allergies from cropping up, even if there is a history in the family. Since yours is a situation in which there is no history, there is no reason to think you need to avoid peanuts yourself. I wouldn't worry about it -- especially since you can't "un-consume" it! For what it's worth, I have a peanut-allergic daughter, and I have no idea if I ate peanuts while I was pregnant. I certainly did not actively avoid them, though.
