How to get newborn to take bottles again?

0 votes

Our 7 week old baby has suddenly started refusing the bottle. She was both nursed as well as fed with pumped milk in a bottle since she was 2 weeks old, although the bottlefeeding was only a few times a week when I had to be away. Has anyone had this situation? We use Born Free silicone nipples right now, and hope that maybe bottle/nipple preference is part of the problem. (If anyone knows any bottles/nipple recommendations that are an easier adjustment for breastfed babies let us know)  We also just changed residence over the weekend, so don't know if the culture shock is also a problem...the last time she took the bottle was a day or two before moving.

People keep saying that it's better if someone, not you, does the bottle feeding. I found that not to be true so you can try. I could usually get my baby to bottle feed better than others could even though I was also nursing her. She just wanted to be held closely while eating like you hold nursing babies rather than held loosely in the lap.

Just keep offering every day or two.  And you should be out of the house (not just out of the room).  You could try different nipples/bottles if you think that was the problem.  Our first son liked Avent, our third likes GreenToGrow.
